Discraft Fossil
The Discraft Fossil is a solid, low-profile putt & approach (throwing putter) designed as an overstable solution for slow-flying putters. The distinctive ringer-style top, subtle micro-bead , and reliable torque tolerance provide a confident feel and predictable behavior on both backhand and forehand shots. The slow, consistent pace allows you to precisely "plant" the disc where you plan.
Who is it for?
• For precision approaches and short drives – when controlled descent and heading hold are required.
• For throws against the wind – stability prevents the disc from unwanted “opening”.
• For forehand players – a flatter top and torque tolerance give confidence on flicks.
• For low ceilings and standstill – slow flight and a smaller glide helps keep the trajectory low and precise.
Features:
• Slow, overstable flight – minimal turn and a reliable, short flight termination at the end.
• Ringer-style top + micro-bead – stable hold and clean separation.
• Excellent torque tolerance – withstands stronger torque in both BH and FH casts.
• Low profile – comfortable in the palm of your hand, easy to control angle and height.
• Predictable distance control – less glide helps you accurately land the disc near the basket.
Why is it worth choosing?
The Discraft Fossil is an ideal choice if you are looking for a reliable "throwable" putter/approach tool that allows you to make slow and confident placement shots, holds up on windy days, and predictably completes the flight without unexpected turns.
Please note that the colors and shades of the discs may vary from the photos shown.

🧪 Discraft
Fossil of the Mind
plastic
Proto Fossil is a prototype plastic that Discraft used to test new disc models (e.g. Fossil, Hallux). It is not an official production plastic line, but is very close to the CT (Crazy Tuff) family.
🖐️ Feeling in the hand
- Very grippy, especially in dry and humid conditions
- Slightly softer than standard CT
- Matte surface (not slippery like Z)
- Feels "rubbery" but not too soft
🧱 Durability and wear
- More durable than Pro-D or Jawbreaker
- Less durable than ESP or Z
- Faster "beat-in", therefore: initially stable, becomes straighter/slightly understable over time
🥏 Flight characteristics
- Provides a lot of control
- Good touch for shots
- Discs made of this plastic often:have less skip and "sit" better when landing
- Very popular for putt & approach drives
🎯 Who is it best suited for?
✔️ For putting
✔️ Approach shots
✔️ For short to medium-range precision shots
✔️ For players who value grip > durability
